I am BACK FROM THE FESTIVAL.

... and staring homework in the face. Homework I'm stumped on.

Anyway!

Mom and I left late at night, got to the hotel after a bit of rushing and searching for stuff. We STILL forgot my bodice string (I got another at the festival) and Mom forgot her walking stick. Her knee didn't suffer, though.

We took Dresden with us, and he was EXCELLENT. Tons of people petted him (many in costume) and he let them, not caring. He was sort of like "Okay, I'll stand here and let you pet me, do you have food?" A couple of girls in costume carefully came up to him, then petted him once they saw he wasn't startled by the bangles and stuff. I thought it was adorable.

Also, the question of "What kind of dog is that?" was asked so much we're thinking about getting Dresden a sign that says "I am a Mutt."

Twenty minutes into the festival I got my first pair of steampunk goggles EVER. They are pretty and actually functional - they're welding goggles turned Steampunk. Since I'm going to be in Robotic Engineering this year and am looking into welding, these will COME IN HANDY. They were expensive, but I wore them all yesterday and most of today, and will wear them any chance I get.

Mom and I walked along, and the women running a Guiness booth talked Mom into getting a drink. We found a leather shop shortly after and I got a belt with some accessories. I got a skirt holder, and instantly regretted not shaving my legs. But in any other case, we continued walking around, talking, seeing things, being stopped so Dresden could get cooed at and talked about, which also gave me some time to look around and stuff.

When we got hungry we got some soup in a breadbowl and listened to a Washerwoman Wench who was also wasted on top of a roof fishing for beer. She was heckling people, but it was in a fun way. "You don't want to know what's in here, ladies and gentlemen!" One guy said "Yes we do!" and the lady went "Rum!"

I shouted "So you're where all the rum's gone?" She cracked up.

"I love how the puppy looks up every time I whistle! It's like he's going 'yes, what?' and then he just takes it in stride!" and Mom and I laughed.

Another one of the washer women came up to Dresden and said "I'm terribly sorry about what happened to the pony - I know you said to only wash him in cold water, but we were just having so much fun splashing around in the bubbles." I got a smooch from her and gave her a smooch.

The act they put on was funny - and the guys they pulled from the audience were good sports.

Mom got me a pretty, handmade leather-bound book. I think I'm going to put finished short stories in it, certain thoughts, poems I like.

I met a couple of steampunks along the way - I got cards, I got a card for the Steamexpo in Dearborn next year (guess where I'm going, Fate's allow?). To make the goggles even cooler, Mom got me a hat that's called a 'broomrider' and I'll have to post a pic of it later.

Mom and I got a coffee at this coffee shop there. The Mocha was delicious. A punk guy asked if Dresden could have the rest of his turkey, since he was done with it but didn't want it to go to waste. He gave him the meat so that he didn't choke on the bone, and his girlfriend said Dresden had eyeliner. They also loved my hat - I asked them if they wanted me to show them where I got it, and they said sure. At that moment, another couple asked me where I got the hat. I said "I'm taking these two to the store - do you wanna go along?"

I may have been bouncing as I walked, and the sounds of *glee* at the hats was pretty damn awesome.

We were getting ready to leave, as it was getter later out and I was getting sleepy.

A lady asked us if Mom and I were sisters - I said nope, her daughter. She said that I was a sweet girl, and that Mom did a good job with me. I grinned really widely.

I was really tired when we got back to the hotel. So was Dresden. But it was a happy sort of tired.

Anyway, the Ren Fair? Was awesome. I loved it.
